Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible unit of the Marshall Police Department. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Patrol officers are the first responders who provide proactive patrols, enforce laws (federal, state, local, traffic), answer calls for service, and take offense reports.
The Patrol Division utilizes four shifts that work 12-hour rotations to provide both day and night coverage. Each shift is under the command of a Lieutenant (Shift Commander), who supervises a Sergeant who oversees patrol officers assigned to a particular area of the city.
The Division also consists of a Traffic Unit, which is responsible for specialized enforcement of traffic laws, investigations of all traffic-related fatalities, and follow-up investigations of hit and run crashes.
In addition to the above units, the Patrol Division is also responsible for the Community Policing, K-9, and Field Training Officer (FTO) programs.
