Bella Wyatt Park

Bella Wyatt Park, encompassing approximately 5 acres, is located in central Marshall behind the former Sam Houston School.

Bella Wyatt Park is named after Mary Isabella Downs Wyatt, a teacher at Sam Houston School in 1920 before she was principal of the school from 1923-1950.  Ms. Park was instrumental in securing the property on East Rusk Street adjoining the school grounds for a park and playground for children. Shortly after her retirement in 1950, the park was named in her honor.
