Biography
Risa Jordan-Anderson was born and raised in Marshall, Texas. She attended Holy Spirit Catholic School and is a 1967 graduate of H. B. Pemberton High School. Councilwoman Jordan-Anderson is the proud mother of Van Lloyd and April and grandmother of Jaya and Kavi. Councilwoman Jordan-Anderson is the second child of eight children born to the parents of Lenon and Ruth Haynes Jordan, Sr., of Marshall.
Employment
Councilwoman Jordan-Anderson served as Assistant Principal with the Ft. Worth ISD before relocating back to Marshall serving as Principal with Travis Elementary and Assistant Principal at Marshall Sr. High in Marshall from 2001–2005 then relocated to the Las Vegas, Nevada CCSD. She retired as Dean of Students and moved back to Marshall where she worked as a professor at Wiley University in the teacher education program and assistant with the AVID program from 2012-2014.
In 2015, Councilwoman served as a volunteer with a Humanitarian Project in Thailand at the Sriudom Wittaya Orphanage Foundation.
From 2018-2020, Councilwoman Jordan-Anderson served as a missionary in Belize as Vice-Principal with Teach Beyond and returning back to Marshall during Covid-19 when the Belize boarders were closed.
Education
Councilwoman Jordan -Anderson worked at Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant in Karnak, Texas as a line- inspector after graduating from high school and as a full-time student at East Texas Baptist College from 1969-1972. After transferring to Wiley College in 1972, she graduated in 1975 with a BS degree in Business Education. Councilwoman Jordan-Anderson received a Master’s degree from Texas Christian University in Education and Principalship Certification in 1985, a Vocational Education Certification from North Texas University, in 1997, a Superintendent’s Certification from Stephen F. Austin in 2013, and a ABD from Nova Southeastern University In Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2012 in Educational Leadership. Jordan-Anderson was appointed as a Ford Foundation Counselor and a Woodrow Wilson National Foundation Improved Fundraising Capabilities Program Fellow. Appointed as a Ford Foundation Consultant to the National Conference of Black Mayors in Atlantic, GA.
