Chief Carruth was sworn in as Chief of Police on October 30, 2017. Carruth, who retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (
FBI), has a total of 26 years of experience in law enforcement; including six years as a police officer with the Longview Police Department. At the time of his retirement, he was the Senior Supervisory Resident Agent at the Little Rock Division of the
FBI. He is a graduate of LeTourneau University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, as well as the East Texas Police Academy and
FBI Academy.

"I believe that good communication is vital for a successful community, and I will ensure that our department constantly works to strengthen the communication and relationships between the community and its police department," said Chief Carruth. "I will work to ensure that the Marshall Police Department builds a strong partnership between our community and our law enforcement partners to constantly strive to make our community safer. "
Chief Carruth has been married to his wife, Cindy, for over 30 years and has three children.
