Biography

Vernia Calhoun was first elected as City Commissioner for District 5 in May 2014. Ms. Calhoun was born and raised in Marshall, Texas. She is a 1970 graduate of H.B. Pemberton High School and a graduate of Draughn Business College. She is a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church.

Employment

Ms. Calhoun is presently employed with Marshall Independent School District as a substitute teacher. Previously, Commissioner Calhoun retired in 2003 after 30 years of employment with General Motors Acceptance Corporation in Dallas.
