PRESS RELEASE - WATER MAIN BREAK

WATER LOSS AND

BOIL WATER NOTIFICATION

IN AREAS IN SOUTH MARSHALL 07-13-2013

 

The City of Marshall, Texas Water Utility Department experienced a major 16” waterline break on East Pinecrest early Saturday morning, which caused the loss of water in some areas in south Marshall and affecting as many as 3,000 customers, being customers in the following area:

·        South of University Ave, and south of Johnson Street,

·        and west of Highway 59, southward to the City Limits,

or if a customer experienced extremely low water pressure and/or no water at all -  are hereby advised to boil water if used in cooking or consumption until further notice; this Notice is issued in accordance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) guidelines which requires our notification to all affected residents, that effective:

 

Saturday July 13th, 2013

To ensure destruction of all possible harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption; bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and then boil for an additional two (2) minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may choose to purchase bottled water for cooking or consumption purposes.

 

We will notify you when it is no longer necessary to boil the water.

*We are specifically asking Channels 3, 6, 12, 33 in Shreveport to run a trailer or public announcements as possible, alerting our affected customers in Marshall – “Due to a water break on the south side of Marshall, Texas, water utility customers on the south side of town, specifically:

·        South of University Ave. and south of Johnson St., and west of Highway 59, southward to the City Limits,

are hereby advised to vigorous boil any water used for cooking or consumption or use bottled water for consumption, until further notice.”
