Press Release - Water Break Repaired Hwy 80 East
The major leak in a 16” water transmission line was repaired and water service was restored to approximately 200 affected residences and businesses around 1:00 am Wednesday morning. The leak had affected customers on Highway 80, east of Buck Sherrod Road and as far eastward as General Cable in Scottsville, Texas.
Customers affected by the loss of water and water pressure are still advised to boil water used for consumption, until further notice. This does not affect any other city water customers, just those directly affected by the water line break on East Highway 80.
City staff will be pulling water samples today and will issue a rescind boil notices as soon as all tests are confirmed as clear in the affected area of Highway 80, east of Buck Sherrod Road.

The City Water Utility Department completed a major water line repair about 1:00 am Wednesday the 15th on Highway 80 East, east of Buck Sherrod Road, which affected some residences and businesses along Highway 80 East who are tied into the City of Marshall water system, and extended as far east as Scottsville, Texas on Tuesday the 14th – as a result of low water pressure and/or no water pressure during the a water line repair; we are required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to notify affected residents that the boil water notice is still in effect as of:

To ensure destruction of all possible harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption; bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and then boil for an additional two (2) minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may choose to purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
We will notify the affected customers when it is no longer necessary to boil the water used for consumption.
This notice does not affect any other city water customers, just those directly affected by the loss of water and/or water pressure on Highway 80, east of Buck Sherrod Road and customers tied into the city water system along East Highway 80 to Scottsville, Texas.
