NEWS RELEASE - NORTH WASHINGTON ASPHALT WORK EXTENDED
NEWS RELEASE – CITY OF MARSHALL, TEXAS
MARSHALL PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT - STREET DIVISION
OCTOBER 27, 2014
Re: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE CITY OF MARSHALL HEREBY NOTIFIES DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS AND RESIDENTS ON NORTH WASHINGTON THAT DUE TO THE CONCRETE ADA RADIUS RAMPS ON NORTH WASHINGTON, THE ASPHALT OVERLAY PROJECT IS TAKING THE CONTRACTOR TWICE AS LONG AS THEY EXPECTED; WORK WILL BE EXTENDED. MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2014 – STREETS WILL BE BLOCKED OFF PART OF THE DAY
Businesses and residents located on North Washington are immediately notified that the asphalt overlay project on North Washington, from the Square, northward four blocks to Highway 80 (Grand Ave.) which was scheduled for Monday, October 27th is taking the contractor twice as long as they expected because of the detailed radius work around the ADA ramps on each corner; instead of one day, work may take two days on North Washington alone!
The contractor is going to try and make every effort possible to accommodate everyone’s access and we plan to leave North Wellington Street open to allow access to the rear of stores on the west side of North Washington.
At this time, the weather forecast is calling for a 60% chance of rain on Tuesday, so the next asphalt work day appears to Wednesday. Once again, the side streets will be open, right up to their intersection with North Washington and Wellington will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday!
We needed to bring this unexpected interruption to the attention of Business and residents on North Washington. If the weather improves as expected on Wednesday, the west 1/2 of North Washington from the Square to Grand Ave. (Hwy. 80) will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday – we will advise everyone when we are sure.
