NEWS RELEASE: MPD Seeks Aggravated Assault Suspect

The Marshall Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a fugitive. On Monday, June 18 at approximately 2:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Alexander Street on reports that an assault had just occurred. When officers arrived on the scene they found a victim suffering serious, but non-life threatening injuries. During their investigation, detectives learned that 26-year-old Oscar Lavelle Smith, Junior, of Marshall, allegedly struck the victim during an altercation. The victim was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall for treatment.
Smith is wanted on an outstanding warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury Family Violence. Smith is described as a black male who stands about 5’7” tall and weighs approximately 156 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
