NEWS RELEASE: MPD Investigating Home Invasion
The Marshall Police Department is investigating a home invasion in which an elderly woman was held at gunpoint. On Thursday, April 19 at approximately 9:41 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Dean Drive on reports that a home invasion had just occurred. When officers arrived, the elderly victim told police that two men, one of which was brandishing a firearm, forced their way into her home and demanded she give them firearms. One of the suspects held the victim at gunpoint while the other ransacked the victim’s house. The suspects stole a crossbow and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured. The suspects are described as two young black males, both with red bandanas covering their face. One suspect was reportedly wearing a red hoodie and the other was wearing a dark colored hoodie.

- Never open the door to strangers. Install a peephole and use it before opening the door to anyone.
- Be sure to lock your doors and windows.
- Install motion lights around the outside of your home.
- Don’t advertise what you have inside your home by leaving boxes outside your home.
- Keep landscaping around doors and windows pruned and low-cut.
