NEWS RELEASE: Marshall Man Arrested After Pursuit
A Marshall man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a Marshall Police Officer then led officers on a chase. At approximately 12:21pm on Thursday, October 18, officers responded to the 2400 block of Frank Street for a welfare check. Upon arriving on the scene, officers made contact with 49-year-old Tony Parish, of Marshall. Parish became aggressive towards officers, got into his vehicle and fled the scene. Officers pursued Parish on Highway 80 westbound and into Harrison County. During the pursuit, Parish fled into oncoming traffic on Highway 80 near Hallsville. Deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office took command of the pursuit and were able to successfully stop Parish’s vehicle. Parish was taken into custody and transported by Marshall Police to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall for evaluation. He was later booked into the Harrison County Jail where he is charged with one count each of Assault on a Peace Officer and Evading Arrest. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Hallsville Police Department assisted the Marshall Police Department in the pursuit and arrest.
