City of Marshall wins #ShareYourShield photo contest
The City of Marshall has been named as the winner of the All-America City #ShareYourShield contest, sponsored by the National Civic League, whose mission is to advance civic engagement to create equitable, thriving communities.
The purpose of the contest is to help recognize All-America Cities from around the country and showcase all the ways in which cities have used the All-America City logo to recognize their award. City staff submitted several creative and impactful photos from around the Marshall community to the city Facebook page by tagging All-America City and using #ShareYourShield to enter the contest.
“We are so excited to be chosen as the winner of the All-America City #ShareYourShield photo contest. These photos visually represent everything that makes Marshall an All-America City and gives us a great opportunity to showcase that on a national level. Marshall is a special place and all you have to do is look at our submitted photos to see why,” said Communications Coordinator Cory Smith.
Marshall was chosen as the outright winner of the photo contest among several other cities from across the country that also entered.
“I knew our staff had been working hard on this project and I was thrilled to learn our city won the photo contest. We were so proud when Marshall was selected as an All-America City in 2015 and this is a continued benefit highlighting Marshall that is a result of that All-America City designation. We live in a wonderful community that has so much to offer and now we can share that through these photos,” said City Manager Lisa Agnor.
For winning the contest, the city received free registrations to attend the 2018 National Conference on Local Governance and will be recognized at the 2018 All-America City Award event that will be held in Denver in June.
