NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF MARSHALL, TEXAS
The Marshall City Commission will hold a public hearing on proposed changes to the guidelines for participation in the Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehabilitation program. The public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in the City Commission Chambers on the first floor of City Hall at 401 South Alamo.
The purpose of the hearings will be to give all interested parties an opportunity to be heard regarding the proposed changes in the Housing Rehabilitation program guidelines. The following information provides a summary of the proposed changes:
- An emergency rehabilitation component will be added to the program to allow for work on one or two major problems to stabilize a house and prevent it from experiencing accelerated deterioration. The spending limit on emergency rehabilitation will be capped at $7,000 per house. The limit can be increased by up to $4,000 in a dollar for dollar match to a cash or in-kind contribution by the homeowner.
- The cap on full house rehabilitation will be lowered from $70,000 to $50,000.
- Reconstruction will continue to be an option. It will be capped at $65,000.
- The waiting list will be split into two waiting lists, one for full house rehabilitation and the other for emergency rehabilitation. Persons currently on the waiting list will be able to choose which waiting list they want to be on and will retain their place in line.
All interested parties are invited to attend this meeting and will be given an opportunity to be heard in connection with this matter.
