After graduating from Kilgore College Fire Academy, Chief Hudson began his career in the fire service with Raton Fire and Emergency Services in Raton, New Mexico. A native of Tyler, Texas, Hudson knew that home was in East Texas. He returned from New Mexico and was hired by the Marshall Fire Department on April 17, 2000. After serving as a frontline Fire Fighter/Paramedic for ten years, Hudson was promoted to Lieutenant and later Captain, where he served as Station Officer for Fire Station 2 on A-Shift. On August 1, 2014, Hudson was promoted to Battalion Chief and accepted the assignment of Training Officer from Fire Chief Reginald Cooper. On February 27, 2015, Hudson became the Assistant Fire Chief of the Marshall Fire Department.
Throughout his career with the Marshall Fire Department, Chief Hudson has aggressively pursued a course of training and education that has helped prepare him for the administrative leadership position of Assistant Fire Chief. He has completed numerous National Fire Academy courses and holds Fire Officer IV, Fire Service Instructor II, Incident Safety Officer, and Master Fire Fighter certifications through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Chief Hudson earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Services Administration from Weatherford College and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Public Administration from Tyler Junior College. Chief Hudson is currently a B.A.A.S. student, studying Public Administration at Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a certified Paramedic and EMS Instructor through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Within the Marshall Fire Department, Hudson serves as a Trustee of the Marshall Fire Fighters' Relief and Retirement Fund and as Secretary of the Marshall Firemen's Relief Fund. Chief Hudson has also served as a Guest Instructor for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Municipal Fire School held in College Station, Texas and is a gradute of the TEEX Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) Program.    
Chief Hudson is very active in the community. He is an Elder and Deacon of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marshall, an Eagle Scout and Troop Committee member of Boy Scout Troop 550 which is chartered by Trinity Episcopal Church, and a Past Master of Marshall Masonic Lodge No. 22 A.F. & A.M.
Assistant Chief Hudson is married to Tish Hudson, who is a Family Nurse Practitioner.
