Zephaniah Timmins (District 2) {Mayor Pro-Tem}
Zephaniah Timmins was elected City Commissioner in May 2007, and
is now serving his third term. He also currently serves as the Mayor Pro-Tem.
He was born in Marshall, Texas to Cubie and Retha Dunn Timmins, and
is the youngest of nine siblings. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1973, and attended
Kilgore Junior College.
Zephaniah is married to Glenda Brown Timmins, and they have three
children: Brandon, Wesley, and Whitney; and three grandchildren. He is employed with
American National Life Insurance Company. He has received the following awards, and National
Awards: Presidents Club in 1994 and 2000; Silver Eagle and Executive awards in 2000; Summit
Club awards in 2005, 2006, and 2008; and became Biltmore’s Who’s Who award winner among top
businessmen in 2007. He attends Peoples Missionary Baptist Church of Marshall, where he sings
in the choir, is Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, serves as Chairman of Deacons, and
Trustee. He enjoys spending his private time with his family and grandchildren, attending
sports events, and traveling. His greatest joy comes by serving God and others.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, if I can cheer somebody with a word or song, if I can
show somebody they are traveling wrong, then my living will not be in vain – is the philosophy
that he lives by daily.
Zephaniah is also a member of the local chapter of NAACP; a member of
the National Black Caucus, which is associated with the National League of Cities; and continues to
serve at the University Kiddie Kollege in Marshall.
