Engineering Dept. Frequently Asked Questions

If I need a culvert, who do I call and how much will it cost?

Call the Engineering Department at (903) 935-4401 to request a visual inspection of the site in order to determine the diameter and length of the culvert to insure proper drainage.  This information will be used to calculate the proper fees for the resident.

If a street (illumination) light is not functioning, who do I call?

Call AEP - SWEPCO to report any outage or malfunction of an existing street light.  The pole number (obtained from the oval shaped metal tag located on the street side of the pole) or the street name and block number will be required.  Call the Engineering Department at (903) 935-4401 to request the addition of a new street light.

Where is my residence connected to water and sewer?
In most cases, the Engineering Department has records of the location of water and sewer hook ups for each residence in the city limits.

If I want to build on a vacant lot that has never had service before, what do I do?

Call the Engineering Department at (903) 935-4401 to obtain a street address and determine if water and sewer is available for the lot in question.

I have a pile of debris from trimming my trees, who do I call?

Go to the Engineering Department located in City Hall at 401 S. Alamo St. to request a mulching workorder.  The Engineering Department will generate a workorder to the Street Department requesting the debris to be mulched and hauled away.  The debris must be at the curb or close to the street - the City does not go on the property to remove the debris.  Please note that there is a $15.00 mulching fee payable at the time the workorder is generated at City Hall.

Who do I call if a street sign is missing or lying on the ground?

Call the Engineering Department at (903) 935-4401 and ask to speak with the Sign Technician who will either re-set the existing sign or make a new one to be installed.

Who do I call if I want to add a fence along the street in front of my residence?

Call the Engineering Department at (903) 935-4401.  They will be able to tell you where to place your fence or they can mark the City Right-Of-Way on the street side.  The Engineering Department does not mark boundary lines between properties.
