MARSHALL HISTORIC LANDMARKS
The purpose of the City's historic preservation program is to protect and enhance historic
properties to produce economic benefits for the community. A major tool for the protection of
these properties is historic designation. Designation is offered for individual properties
(historic landmarks) and for larger areas (historic districts) through the City's
Historic
Landmark Preservation Ordinance. The most protection for local historic resources is
offered by the
Marshall Historic Landmark status because this designation includes a local review
process to lessen the potentially harmful effects of incompatible exterior alteration, relocation
or demolition of these designated properties. |
